Holt Renfrew's store on Dunsmuir Street at Pacific Centre in downtown Vancouver

White glove delivery into four Holt Renfrew stores across Canada

In October 2026 a retail fit-out firm based in the Middle East opened a European fashion brand inside four Holt Renfrew stores: Square One in Mississauga, Ogilvy in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. The fixtures came by air from the Middle East, and so did the install crew. Each store gave them one night, with two to three days between stores. One Rolls Right project manager ran the job from the first email to the last delivery, and every crate was in its store on its install night.

One night per store

Holt Renfrew lets a fit-out crew in after closing and wants its floor back before the doors open. Everything the client had planned hung on those four nights, and the team running it was seven to ten hours ahead in the Middle East.

Close to the dates their original logistics provider's price went up sharply, so they came to us for Calgary and Vancouver. We confirmed both dates within days. A few days later they asked us to take Square One and Ogilvy as well. The first install was days away and the crates had already left the Middle East. We took it.

The freight came in two halves. The western crates landed in Calgary and the eastern ones in Mississauga, and each crate went from there to its store.

A project manager on the client's clock

One person ran the project from the first quote to the last delivery. The client's team worked Middle East hours, so answers often went out near midnight our time and nothing sat for a day. They had one name to call for four stores, and that person knew every crate and every store contact.

What Holt Renfrew asks of a delivery crew

Every store wanted a $5 million certificate of insurance naming Holt Renfrew and the client, crew names on its approved contractor list days ahead, and a sign-in with loss prevention on arrival.

The docks all differed. Square One meant an underground dock and a freight elevator. Ogilvy's dock is in a narrow alley that takes nothing longer than a 22-foot truck. Calgary's has a height limit just over 12 feet, and the truck entrance to the Pacific Centre dock in Vancouver runs southbound only.

We had the certificates issued within days and the crew names on file at all four stores.

Four install nights

  1. 1

    Square One, Mississauga

The eastern crates landed in Mississauga and reached us at noon on install day. The client's team had flown in for the openings, and our project manager met them at the dock to check everything in. By 8 pm the crates were at the store's underground dock.

  2. 2

    Ogilvy, Montreal, two days later

Three crates went in through the alley dock at 5 pm, with two pallets of store items and display ballast.

  3. 3

    Calgary, two days after that

The western crates landed in Calgary and were still waiting on customs release the morning of the install. We stayed on the phone with the courier and the customs brokers until they came through, then sent our own truck to the courier's depot instead of waiting for a delivery slot. The fixtures reached the store that evening.

  4. 4

    Vancouver, two days later

The last crate made Calgary to Vancouver in one night and went in through the Pacific Centre dock at 8 pm. Four stores in a week.

The extras

The displays needed sand for ballast, and the client's overseas cards wouldn't go through with Canadian suppliers, so we arranged the pickups locally and sent the sand with the crates. We also collected pallets of hangers, mannequins and store items from three local warehouses and sent each one to its store.

At every store a two-person crew unloaded and opened the crates, wheeled the fixtures in over floor protection and took the empty crates away. The installers started on a clear floor.

Questions about white glove store delivery

Have you delivered into Holt Renfrew stores?

Yes. In October 2026 we delivered store fixtures white glove into Holt Renfrew Square One, Ogilvy, Calgary and Vancouver, each on an after-hours install night.

What does white glove delivery into a store include?

The crew brings the freight in through the store dock, opens the crates, wheels everything to the install area on rubber-wheeled dollies over floor protection and takes the packing away. On this project every store got a two-person crew.

Can you deliver after the store closes?

Yes. All four deliveries here went in after closing, timed to the install crew's start, so the floor was clear before the doors opened the next morning.

What paperwork does a department store want from a delivery crew?

On this job each store asked for a certificate of insurance naming the store and the client, crew names on its contractor list days ahead, and a sign-in with loss prevention on arrival. We arrange that as part of the booking.

Can you help when crates are still in customs?

We chase the release with the courier and the customs brokers and collect the freight ourselves once it clears. That is what happened in Calgary on the morning of the install.

Install night booked and the freight isn't here yet?

Tell us the stores, the dates and what's in the crates, even if the first install is days away. We'll plan the receiving, the white glove delivery and the paperwork each store asks for.
